Linda McIlheran is a self-taught artist. Born in Fremont, Nebraska, she took to art as soon as she was able to hold a crayon. Throughout her childhood, she developed an appreciation for beautiful creative things. Linda was exposed to many different artistic mediums. She was always encouraged to think outside of the box, and follow her imagination by her family.
Being creative, using and re-purposing different materials in new and different ways has always been a passion for her. Finding beautiful things in nature, such as rocks, branches, flowers, interesting seed pods, shells, etc. is something she has been doing since childhood. The best artist in the entire universe is God. He created each one to be unique and beautiful in its own way.
Linda loves to work in different mediums, paint, fabric, clay, paper, plastics, wood, metals, glass, vintage materials.
Her Dad was an Industrial Arts teacher, and was also very artistic working with metals, oil painting, woodwork, leather tooling, plastics, and enamel work, and figuring out how to come up with solutions to fix things. Linda's Grandpa was also always fixing, building or woodworking in his basement shop too. She enjoyed spending time hanging out with both of them in their workshops. They would let her help work on their projects and was encouraged to create her own projects. Linda enjoyed earning how to work with different materials, hand and power tools.
Linda's Mom and Grandma were very creative in the areas of cooking, baking, decorating, gardening, floral arranging and countless crafts, in which they taught and encouraged her to be able to express herself through these areas.
The most important influence on her life is Jesus Christ. He gave the gifts of creativity to use for His glory. And, freely gave the most important gift of all, redemption and the guarantee of eternal life with Him. He is the reason for living!
Currently Linda lives in Omaha, NE with her wonderful, loving husband and daughter. Along with two loving, happy dogs,
Buddy the Australian Terrier
,and Lexi the Golden Retriever.
